We are Purcellville: Residents and Business Owners – United for a better future.
This effort was born from a collected frustration by local residents, citizens, and business owners that our voices are not being heard by the majority of our town’s elected leaders.
An informal coalition began in Spring of 2025, when Council Member Susan Khalil moved in a town council meeting to dissolve our town’s police department. It grew over the next year as the town’s residents filed an unprecedented and historic recall campaign, saw our Vice Mayor and Town Manager suspended due to criminal felony charges, and our town lose multiple dedicated employees to staffing cuts and drama that creates a toxic work environment.
We are your neighbors, friends, teachers, business owners, public servants, volunteers, and community members.
As we approach the next election cycle, this same community of individuals has deemed a need to formally organize, so we have registered as a Political Action Committee, which can work as a formal and unified organization to affect change for our town.

We believe that a strong community is built on the foundation of active participation and informed citizens. Together, we can shape the future of Purcellville.
Through our efforts, we strive to bring our town back towards a policy of transparent governance, fiscal responsibility, sound decision and fact based making, and ensuring our public officials and employees follow established state laws, and local policies and procedures in all of their actions.
Citizens for Purcellville is committed to fostering a vibrant community through active participation and informed decision-making. We believe that every resident has a role to play in shaping the future of our town and hope many others will join us in our mission to promote civic engagement and transparency in local governance.
